Do your Circumstances define you?

Mansion...........or................cottage? Whatever your circumstances are, be blessed and content!

Do you live in a big house? Do you live in a trailer? Do you have a lot of money or a little bit of money?

Do your circumstances define who you are or does your outlook on your circumstances define you?
This is what came to me today as I was looking around at where I live and what I have. Some people
may think that I live meagerly or don't have nice things. We live in a small home that is about 1400 sq ft. with three bedrooms in which my two girls share one of those rooms. It is not a new home but a fixer-upper which still has lots of fixing to do. We drive used cars, nice cars but used.  We buy clothes from the thrift stores and my dishes are from a yard sale. I own the same shirts that I got handed down to me over 5 years ago and if I am being honest probably longer than that. We wear our shoes until we absolutely need a new pair and the same with our jeans. Now I could look at my life and compare to others around me who live in new homes, and drive new cars and have expensive jewelry and name brand clothes and shoes. But I choose not to compare myself to others. Because what I have the Lord has blessed me with. My home may be small but it is clean and tidy and very warm. My clothes may be old but are clean and well cared for so they last. And those dishes that I bought for a couple bucks at a yard sale 6 years ago well they still look nice, hold my food and I don't worry if they get broken. So find joy in the things you do have life is too short to be in debt over expensive things just to keep up with the Jones'. Look to make your home a peaceful and happy place that makes you and your family want to stay home more which in return means you don't go out and spend money. Be grateful for the food you do have even if its not all organic and the latest diet craze. I hope this post finds you well and encourages you to look at the glass half full instead of half empty. Be humble and kind and the Lord will bless you. Trust in him always and he will give you all that you need whether it is a little or a lot, the Lord knows exactly what we need.

Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.

Hebrews 13:5

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Luke 12:15
15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
