How to homeschool on a budget!

When I tell people I homeschool I often times get asked what curriculum I use and how much does it cost? I am here to tell you I am living proof you can homeschool on a very tight budget and even for free. As a Homeschool graduate myself and a homeschooling mom of three kids, I have been homeschooling my children for over ten years and feel like I have been at both ends spectrums on the curriculum debate. When I first started out I did like any one else did and ordered the best christian curriculum I could fine. It was a boxed curriculum and although it was very good I found myself trying to figure out how I was going to buy the next grade level once we were done with the current one. And I was only homeschooling one child at that time. What was I going to do with two or three children? So began my search for affordable or even free curriculum. It took many years of trying different workbooks and online schools and long nights of scouring the internet for the best possible education…

Allowance or Commission??

Its the big question that most parents have. Should we give our kids and allowance just because or should they have to earn their money? I am a firm believer that children need to know the importance of working hard and being rewarded for their hard work. In the real world that is how everything works, you don't just get money for free you have to work to earn it. If we teach our children this concept while they are young they will better understand it when they are older. Even if you are on a low budget you still can reward your kids. For instance my children have daily responsibilities to do and then three paid chores per day. They can earn .20 cents per chore which adds up to .60 cents per day. Now some of you may think this is very little but I am paying my two girls and they get paid every two weeks when my husband gets paid. And they only get paid if they do the chore and mark it off. I use this great chore chart from…

Learn your Multiplication Facts Fast!!!

Hey everyone!!

Today I wanted to share a product that I have and use and love. Its called Times Tales!!! If you have a child that struggles with their multiplication facts then you should try Times Tales. My daughter has studied her facts for several years without committing them to memory until now. Times Tales is perfect for right brained thinkers and teach a story to go along with the facts so that your child can remember the story which then gets put into a multiplication problem. It took one time watching the video and my daughter could remember most of the facts we also watch the video and refresh every so many weeks. Times Tales covers the upper multiplication facts which are usually the hardest to learn. Check out this Times Tales link for more information Times Tales

(Disclaimer, I am an affiliate for Times Tales so I do receive a small kick back when you use the link when shopping for Times Tales which does not cost you any money.)

Making Ends Meet!

If your a stay at home mom trying to make ends meet you are not alone. My husband and I plus our three children live on one income and we have done so for quite some time. Does that mean my husband makes a ton of money??? NO, it is the complete opposite we live on one income by trying our best to keep finances low , stay out of debt as much as we can and be frugal like our great grandmothers were. It's not and easy task but doable. But this brings me to my post today. Even though we make ends meet it would be nice to bring in some extra grocery money. I know all of you stay at home moms know what I'm talking about. I know there are all kinds of side jobs out there but if you homeschool your children its hard to find those supper flexible work when you want jobs, that actually pay. Although my blog does not make any money at the moment maybe someday it will and that would be a blessing I hope to encourage other moms out there to keep homeschooling , being frugal and praying f…

Mommy Days!

So today was a challenging day for me. I know that I am not alone when I say that. As a mom we tend to over extend ourselves with all the many hats we wear, Mom , Teacher, wife, homemaker, friend, animal caretaker...... the list goes on and on. But as I sat there crying about all my woes in my room while my kids were doing school I was comforted by the Lord. I am only human and I will have good days and bad days. But as a christian I have peace knowing that I am Blessed not Stressed! The Lord died on the cross for my sins so that I might have life and have it abundantly. He knows the desires of my heart, my dreams and my ambitions. He knows when my plate is full and I feel overwhelmed, but he never gives me anything that he does not think I can't handle. So on this day when I am weary and feeling exhausted I ask God for strength, peace and the grace to pick myself up and cary on with my day. Does that mean that now my day if filled with roses and butterflies? NO, I still have all…
